Felted Handbag from Rhythm Wool Yarn

So Many Great ideas, so Little Time!

The Fall season always revjuvenates my creative spirit, and even though summer is not over yet, I am amping up for the anticipatory cooler months ahead.

I have been busily knitting stocking caps and researching pattern possibilities for vests in the style of Aran knits or possibly slip-stitch patterns (I love intarsia but became quickly discouraged years ago when I attempted my first project). In the meantime, I have been helping my daughter learn to knit and she has taken on the task at full speed. She is well on the way to her first neck scarf warmer. She can't wait to add the finishing fringe touch, possibly adding beads and fringe.

Soon, incorporating beads into my knitting will be another one of my learning experiences, as I have come across a wonderful YouTube video that shows how to do this in much easier steps that the laborious string on of 300+ beads before beginning to knit! Continually learning and experimenting are the best things I have found in knitting that keep me interested and amused.  I have so much more to learn - crocheting, dyeing, spinning and felting. Here's to the season ahead!

Fall is a Creative time to Knit!

Fall is perhaps my favorite season for knitting - school is just around the corner and the holidays keep me busy planning special entertainment receipes, activities and crafting with family and friends. Like many of my fellow knitters, I also enjoy diffrent crafting skills and love to watch crafting shows on TV and YouTube.  Halloween allows me to get a bit daft in the making of costumes or home decorating ideas. Thanksgiving is a time when dinner tables get some centerpiece attention and from summer to the end of December I am knitting, sewing or beading my way through to the NewYear.
For the past few months, I have been busily plying my stash yarns into stocking caps, neck scarves and various other knitting projects for gifts and for sale.

Recently, I have rediscovered the beauty of variegated yarns, whose colors intrigue me and whose patterning excites me!  My latest project involves Yarn Treehouse's 100% wool yarn called, "Rhythm."  I love how the browns play against the blues and how the blue gives a kind of halo effect.  Another site I found by accident shows this same yarn used in a totally different way - the yarn was knit and felted into an Entrelac handbag, which is quite smart.  Now, how's that for two totally different uses of the same unusual yarn?

It's exciting to see all the different things that people are knitting now and the infinite number of sites offering FREE knitting and crochet patterns! Also encouraging is the number of online yarn merchants who sell yarn at a fraction of the cost of retailers. Now that's exciting! Sharing this information is what knitters often do and it builds community and comraderie on sites such as knittingparadise, where I like to enjoy an early morning cuppa joe with my knitting and crochet friends.
